AeroMobil’s display is a part of the official Slovak activities during this year’s EXPO, including the press conference, which is supported by Wired Italy. Visitors will be able to witness the transformation of retractable and adjustable wings, and to be informed on the details of the vehicle’s design.
“AeroMobil is one of the shining examples of innovative technology from Slovak Republic, which as a country has a long-term heritage in engineering and manufacturing. Automotive and light aviation industry grew very strong in our country; and in a way that helps to fuel innovation in sustainable technologies.” – said Martin Polák, Commissioner General of the exposition of Slovak Republic at the EXPO 2015.
The concept originally was brought to life in 1989 by Slovak native designer Štefan Klein. After years of mock-ups and test models, Klein’s 20 twenty-year dream eventually lead to the partnership between himself and entrepreneur, Juraj Vaculík, in 2010. Together, they have seen the AeroMobil vision come to life from its humble beginnings through the carefully crafted and newly unveiled 3.0 prototype. With only a 13-men team in 10 months, the team pulled together local resources to assemble the AeroMobil 3.0 design.
“I believe that AeroMobil will inspire new ways of thinking about personal travel. We hope it enables new ways of travel, advancing it to a new league of transportation. We are set to reinvent the flying car without constraints and deliver excitement through unique technical solutions and designs.” – says Juraj Vaculík, Co-Founder and CEO of the company.
The beautifully designed and fully functional AeroMobil 3.0 prototype has undertaken numerous test flights and is the closest representation of the final high-end product that pairs a sports car with a small aircraft. Currently, the prototype engine configuration allows for speeds of up to 160 km/h on the road and 200 km/h once airborne. One of the unique characteristics is its ability to take off from speeds of 100 km/h. This gives drivers the freedom to take off from any legal grass leveled surface as opposed to depending on airstrips. The ease of takeoff and landing are part of AeroMobil’s initiative to change the face of personal transportation.
The AeroMobil team continues to refine the design, in addition to an upcoming new prototype, through continued structural and aerodynamic tests. Part of the innovative success behind the AeroMobil’s strategy has been the inclusion of experts from automotive and aerospace industries into the team to bring the project to the advanced stage.
