Flying car from Slovakia - first time in Italy!

AeroMobil 3.0 will be on display at the EXPO 2015

AeroMobil will make an appearance in Milan, Italy at the EXPO from October 15 to 17, 2015. The most recent prototype 3.0 will be on display for the first time in Italy during the press conference co-organized by Slovak Republic and AeroMobil. Members of the AeroMobil management team will be on site to give insights into the technologies behind the exploratory feat of design and engineering. In the spirit of the exposition, the AeroMobil prototype will be demonstrating the unique transformation from car to plane.

AeroMobil’s display is a part of the official Slovak activities during this year’s EXPO, including the press conference, which is supported by Wired Italy. Visitors will be able to witness the transformation of retractable and adjustable wings, and to be informed on the details of the vehicle’s design.

AeroMobil is one of the shining examples of innovative technology from Slovak Republic, which as a country has a long-term heritage in engineering and manufacturing. Automotive and light aviation industry grew very strong in our country; and in a way that helps to fuel innovation in sustainable technologies.” – said Martin Polák, Commissioner General of the exposition of Slovak Republic at the EXPO 2015.

The concept originally was brought to life in 1989 by Slovak native designer Štefan Klein. After years of mock-ups and test models, Klein’s 20 twenty-year dream eventually lead to the partnership between himself and entrepreneur, Juraj Vaculík, in 2010. Together, they have seen the AeroMobil vision come to life from its humble beginnings through the carefully crafted and newly unveiled 3.0 prototype. With only a 13-men team in 10 months, the team pulled together local resources to assemble the AeroMobil 3.0 design.

I believe that AeroMobil will inspire new ways of thinking about personal travel. We hope it enables new ways of travel, advancing it to a new league of transportation. We are set to reinvent the flying car without constraints and deliver excitement through unique technical solutions and designs.” – says Juraj Vaculík, Co-Founder and CEO of the company.

The beautifully designed and fully functional AeroMobil 3.0 prototype has undertaken numerous test flights and is the closest representation of the final high-end product that pairs a sports car with a small aircraft. Currently, the prototype engine configuration allows for speeds of up to 160 km/h on the road and 200 km/h once airborne. One of the unique characteristics is its ability to take off from speeds of 100 km/h. This gives drivers the freedom to take off from any legal grass leveled surface as opposed to depending on airstrips. The ease of takeoff and landing are part of AeroMobil’s initiative to change the face of personal transportation.

The AeroMobil team continues to refine the design, in addition to an upcoming new prototype, through continued structural and aerodynamic tests. Part of the innovative success behind the AeroMobil’s strategy has been the inclusion of experts from automotive and aerospace industries into the team to bring the project to the advanced stage.

Press conference will take place at the EXPO Conference Center Orogel on October 15 at 11:30.

About AeroMobil

AeroMobil is a leader in mobility in three dimensions with a vision to liberate personal mobility from the ground and into the skies. AeroMobil develops the most flexible, capable and efficient range of personal aerial vehicles (PAVs) designed for door to door travel in intra and inter-urban environments, reducing congestion and emissions while increasing proximity and convenience for citizens, cities and society.

AeroMobil is pioneering the development and commercialisation of flying cars, developing cutting edge technology to produce a range of vehicles for short take-off and landing (STOL) and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). This includes electric propulsion systems, battery technology and control systems for piloted and autonomous flight for transportation on the ground and in the air to support short and longe range personal air travel with eVTOLs.

AeroMobil adopts an iterative approach to the development of personal air transportation in line with technology readiness, legislation and market acceptance. We believe the future offers unbounded opportunity for air mobility at scale but requires a pragmatic and considered approach to ensure technology and solutions implemented are safe, reliable and effective through partnership and collaboration with regulators, governments and cities to realise the benefits of all.

The first flying car from AeroMobil provides increased flexibility and versatility for the customer as it combines the best of automotive and aerospace technology into one vehicle while respecting the limits of current technology and the regulatory environment. It is the first step in our journey towards air Mobility-as-a-service (aMaaS) which will make personal transportation vastly more efficient and environmentally friendly by allowing significantly faster door-to-door travel over short and medium distances, and in areas with limited road or public transport infrastructure.
